Craft working with a void of course moon?

There is much debate about whether or not a craft practitioner should engage in magickal workings while a moon is void of course?

First of all, what does a moon being void of course mean?

If you are going to do ANY magic, one of the first investments you should make is in a special calendar such as an astrological or Witchcraft one. You will notice that the moon, like our sun, is always traveling through the zodiac. Each day, sometimes more than once a day, the moon will shift into a different zodiac. So for example, if you want to do a magickal working about becoming more independent, you might want to see when the moon is favorable in a sign like Aquarius or Sagittarius. It is at these times that the moon is ON course.

Now getting back to the original question at hand, void of course simply means that the moon is not in any energy at all. Some people say that this is a great time to do magic because there will be no interference, while others say do not engage in any magickal requests, other than expressing gratitude for life, your gifts etc, because your workings will not work, or they can be thrown into chaos.

I personally stand with the second camp. I do not do ANY magickal workings while the moon is void of course. If the moon is on course with a zodiac, I feel that I at least know the energy I am dealing with. The void, however can be anything. I advise to wait until the moon course is favorable. Of course prayer can be done at any time, but we are talking about magickal workings here. These need to be much more specific with day of the week, phase of the moon, and astrological sign the moon is in.

It depends on your own tradition, and feeling. I tend to be cautious, because doing spells, invoking the elements is not to be taken lightly. I prefer to stir a pot when I know what's in there.
